What a relativity short game.
I was expecting a lot more.

Agreed. It was good while it lasted, but only 8 hours? That really disappointing considering RE4 took me almost 16 hours to beat, while RE5 and 6 lasted about 12 hours.
shareAre you talking about first playthrough? Because RE4 can be done in about 3 hours also. Same goes for RE5. 6 had alot of content, but was a bad game, so it can't be counted. As for REØ-Code veronica, they can be beaten anywhere between an hour and 4 hours, with Code Veronica being the longest. I can do both the original RE and REmake in about an hour and half, probably less if I was trying. The rest even quicker.
RE7 isn't any different in terms of game time. There's even a trophy that encourages you to do it under 4 hours. I don't know what people expect? Did the OP explore everywhere? Or read all the files? My first playthrough was just under 10 hours, which is what I expected.

You don't have to be as skilled to pull of a speed run of Resident Evil 7 as you do for the classic RE games. You're first time through the classic RE games without any walkthrough takes far longer than a blind playthrough of RE7 simply because the puzzles, extreme backtracking, and loss of progress if you get caught off guard and end up dying.
It's unfair to compare first time playthroughs of Classic RE to RE7, RE7 is much more linear in comparison and if you don't deliberately play slowly it's actually quite easy to finish the games quickly.
