becoming less plausible (spoilers)

I have just watched the sixth episode of this - and it has been fairly believable up to now - but the final scene sees a rather silly plotline developing.
I cannot see Hayley "going undercover" - her reasons seems weak and unbelievable - also the fact that she brought Shay along with her - what? He isn't going to question what she was talking about?
Would such a capable intrepid detective swallow that silly story?
No, they should have left things as they were - it's a step too far for plausibility - a weak excuse to continue the series.
