It was truly terrible. The acting, from people who are usually good, was dire; though having said that the script was tenth rate. It was trying to be 'Gran Hotel' the Spanish period drama about a posh hotel. The scene with the wife going to her room where her scoundrel hubby was doing what he oughtn't be doing with the woman who WASN'T his wife (like THAT wasn't obvious), was lifted straight from it. If you enjoy period dramas, I'd highly recommend you watch Gran Hotel instead. It was excellent, if not a little melodramatic. Far superior.

Couldn't agree more. Utter drivel. The acting was the only good thing about it if you take it as a comedy spoof

The cheesiness has waned significantly since the first ep. It's becoming a decent drama.

Don't normally watch this kind of program but I stumbled on it in IMDB (following Charity Wakefield links) and watching the 1st episode it seems pretty good to me. I gave it a go because it's so well cast, perhaps even over cast, with many recognisable actors and I'm assuming many will have thier moment as the series progresses. First episodes are often over busy and confusing as numerous story lines are set up but this was admirably clear without being too simple. So, I'll be watching further episodes.
