Different Love Interest every Episode - Any Continuity?

Every episode/movie of Aurora Teagarden she has a new love interest. From the minister to the crime writer to now the former army spy. Urgh and they never seem to be guilty. The only continuity is her ex, the police detective.

The books were similar.

Hmm. James Bond much? Every movie one, two or three new love interest, only continuity the deceased first wife.

It looks like the previews for the next one "The Julius House" show the same character (Martin, the former spy) as having a role. Maybe there's continuity after all. I haven't read the books, so can't address how the movies compare.

I've read both books with the Martin character. They are supposed to be married by "The Julius House." In fact, he buys her the house for a wedding present as she is fascinated by the mystery surrounding the house. Hallmark really has to water down the personal relationship between these two characters as Charlaine Harris portrays it as very steamy. Which you might expect from the author who wrote the books upon which, "True Blood" is based.

I'm glad they chose Yannick Bisson for the character of Martin or I never would have watched these movies or read these books. He stars in "Murdoch Mysteries" a turn of the century CSI show, in which he plays a brilliant detective who though very self-restrained has hidden depths. Best show on Canadian TV. And he just won the most popular actor in Canada because of his show which is filming its tenth season.

I think I'd rather a new love interest each movie over the Murder She Baked movies. She's had the same 2 love interests for 3 movies now. I wish she'd just pick one already. Either way, not much happens with the love interests in these on going movies.

reply

I actually like the Murder, She Baked because you get familiar with her love interests. I am glad she is taking her time picking.

I have a question. what are the names for the next movies of murder, she baked; aurora teagarden, garage sale mystery and flower shop mystery that are coming in the fall(October I read in a tv guide) on hallmarks movies and mysteries?

reply

In the books, Aurora and Martin end up getting married, so we might see this one stick around in future movies.
Also in the books, Hanna Swensen goes 20 books stringing along Mike and Norman. Believe me, those of us who've stuck around that long were ready for her to make a choice somewhere around book 3. When she finally makes a choice (someone else) Mike and Norman continue to hang around.. Though I always thought it'd be more interesting if she picked them both and it was a polyamorous situation.

It is becoming a bit of a giveaway when this happens every time, cutting down on the list of suspects if you have seen the others. I reckon that the first one, 'A Bone To Pick' is still the best one in the series so far.

Yannick Bisson is among the cast of Julius House so hopefully Martin sticks around. Which I'm delighted about as I'm a huge fan of Yannick Bisson

I am, too. The Artful Detective (Murdoch Mysteries). My first glimpse of him: he had a small part in the movie The Way She Moves playing Annabeth Gish's fireman brother.
