Based on how little is now known and given that filming has just started, this looks more and more to be a likely 2018 release. I don't see this hitting theaters this year. I could be wrong, but I've never heard of Anderson rushing a film to be in play for the Oscars.
sharePossibly. I'm expecting a fall release though. Given that it's January and PTA's films usually take no longer than 3-4 months to shoot, I feel like we'll definitely be seeing a mid-late fall release

I would be pretty surprised if it wasn't released in time for the Oscars. That's, I would imagine, a massive part of a film like this's economic engine. These days films like this basically only have a small window in which to make an impact and get some attention, what with the glut of blockbusters saturating the market. They should have it wrapped in a few months so there ought to be enough time.
