Question?spoiler

The pacing let it down, but the finale made up for it.

Why did Mackey let him go at the end?

reply

Agreed about the pacing.

He let him go as being alive is truly more terrifying knowing that one day (or night), Mackey could come for him. You would be paranoid 24/7, looking over your shoulder every 5 seconds. It would drive you insane. Although this is America so if I was Davey, I would go and get myself some guns and if Mackey turns up, I would just shoot him the face. Multiple times.

reply

That's true,it wouldn't be much fun constantly looking over your shoulder.

reply

Personally, I think he let him go to leave room for a sequel.

reply

Yes that could be it.

I thought the actor who played the sociopath did a really fine job. I mean you almost entirely knew that he was a monster, but he tried so hard to be disarming.

In the end, he kept each of those kids locked up for weeks right? He clearly relished being in power and prolonging the terror.

reply

I liked Mackeys speech at the end when he says 'you'll always be looking over your shoulder',he was so scary in that scene.
