Marc Maron's performance

This guy makes the show, IMO. Sure Allison Brie is phenomenal, an amazing actress who's playing a character so well that its made me wonder if its possible to fall in love with someone who exists only on-screen. Because I'd go halves on a baby with Ruth in a dang heartbeat.

But Maron steals every scene that he's in, as far as I'm concerned. With help from some of the best writing I've seen on TV, he IS the character he plays. And who knows, maybe he's like that in real life, just that unique of a person, but the intelligence conveyed through the screen here is palpable. Every pause, every glance, he brings a level of nuance to his performance that doesn't just bring the character to life, but conveys a deeper understanding of him as a person, his motivations, insecurities...

Its just not every day that someone you've never even heard of before is suddenly at the top of your list of favorite actors. Going to find out what else this guy is in just to see what else he can do.

Regardless, they sure picked the right leads for this show.

100% agree. The performances on this show are outstanding; Especially Maron and Brie.
Never would have guessed it. I'm not a wrestling fan but am an 80's kid (class of 87) so the period lured me into watching one episode. Immediately hooked by the impressive quality.

i think he played himself tbh

My favourite is Betty Gilpin. Even her facial expressions are hilarious. Marc Maron really did look ill this season.

Really? I'm only on the second episode of this new season here, but I don't see her character as being in a comedic role. Like, at all. Miss Liberty (or whatever her name is), right?
You think she's hilarious?
Huh...maybe I haven't seen enough of the season yet...okay. You sure you don't just have a strange sense of humor? Lol sorry, just...really??

Take it back, what you said about Maron...you take it back!

I think the "he looked ill" comment may have been a compliment. He's supposed to be having health issues in season 3, right?

I totally agree about the Liberty Belle character being hilarious. It's a low key, subtle, humor, which is maybe my favorite kind. She gives a lot of facial expressions that essentially say, "you've gotta be fucking kidding me", or "I'm trying to act civil but I'd love to tear your throat out".

Fantastic performance for sure. Just so natural.

Maron made the show. It's a great show overall, but Maron nails it so hard. It helps that Sam is such a great frickin' character, too.
