"These period (windows, stairways, floors, etc.) are wonderful, but unfortunately I have to replace them to make this house function for a modern family."

I'm tired of watching her ruin old houses, turning them into current-trend showrooms. Brett Waterman is the only HGTV/DIY host who doesn't spoil historical houses; unfortunately, "Restored" seems to have been dropped [nope. "Restored" is still going as of 2023].

Agreed, but at least she doesn't turn absolutely EVERY house into the nirvana of the surveillance society, the "open concept" floor plan.

I've often felt HGTV should just change their name to Open Concept Television.

Agreed. Open Concept just reminds me of my first cheap studio apartment, or motel rooms.
