I call bullshit on the fire extinguishers operating after HOURS of burning...

...because in reality, all of those systems would've been destroyed a long time ago and there would BE no means of putting out the fires.

Have we learned NOTHING from 9/11?

Anything with compressed gas is worthless after a fire.

I was thinking same thing, those system would have been useless after hours of extremely high temperatures.

They're a new design. There, FTFY!

how else would you achieve a deus ex machina?

We learned not to constuct a building bellow specs and pretend they are up to specs during inspection, i guess? Well no, no we havent.

Remmeber that the twin towers were built to survive a plane impact. Or, well, were supposed to be built that way. Didnt work out now did it.

As far as fire extinguishers go, my bigger gripe is power instead. how the fuck was that building still having power during the movie. Not only would safety measures kick in and lock out the power delivery for nonemergency systems, in the intro sequence we are told that the whole building was powered by two wind turbines, one of which exploded and the second was on fire, no fucking way they were providing the power in that state. In fact the whole system was ridiculous, elevators not parking during fire detection, elevators held on magnetics in emergency situation (loss of power would cause them to plummet, you dont design that way), elevators not engaging automatic breaks when cable is snapped (you dont have a lever inside the cabin, you have a system that will physically lock up if the cabin reaches certain speed and its effective enough even in our smaller real world buildings).

Good points, I never thought of those.
