What is so frustrating about this show is....

When Season 3 comes about, so much from Seasons 1 and 2 will be forgotten.

I was really hoping that at the end of Season 2 there would be more revealing aspects of the storylines. It's more like the creators of the show found it more important to end with a hook to make sure the show was renewed more than anything else.

I agree. I am really enjoying the show overall, but I don't like that the emphasis is on mystery, as opposed to storytelling in general. Too many scenes are played out where the point is that they're "mysterious". A character coming in and dragging another off to tell them "something" and then that person is like, "I know what I have to do now!" It makes it hard to know who to root for or to care about the outcomes of scenes or episodes because we never know what's at stake.

I have to disagree. You obviously aren't aware of the origin of the show, but Netflix came to them (the creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese), they didn't pitch anything to Netflix. In the interviews they (hopefully jokingly) say that this time is different for them (from the success of their movie Who Am I - Kein System ist sicher) in that this time around they are doing it against their will.

They are not invested in dragging out the series, and season 3 will be the final season.

As for things getting forgotten: well, with a show like this you really have to rewatch the prior season(s) before watching the new one - there is just no way around it. This is probably the most thought-provoking series I've ever seen, and as such it requires a lot of investment from the viewer.

Untrue. I've just watched season 2, 2.5 years after watching season 1 and I understood it. It was hard to follow, but I did. There are recap videos out there too.

Well, that is obviously your prerogative, but I would never cripple my own viewing experience that way.

There are too many characters on this particular show, and all the details matter - I want everything to be fresh in my mind when I watch.

In true Dark style:

"You won't be able to..."

Untrue for me, therefore untrue overall.

"Since you are copy-pasting your responses"

I pasted it exactly once. You posted the same sentiments at least twice (I didn't bother to read all the threads).

"I would never cripple my own viewing experience that way"

Come on. Just because you can't continue a TV show after a year and a half doesn't mean that others can't. I picked up the threads pretty quickly. I don't consider myself particularly smart. And "cripple my own viewing experience"? That's pretentious.

Try being less absolute in future. Not everything that is true for you is true for everyone else in the world.

reply

Try being less of an asshole in the present.

Don't forget that you are the one who started these hostilities.

Peter, the psychiatrist, kept telling his wife 'I need to talk to you' and she kept hanging up on him. I wondered how many episodes will I have to watch before they actually have this conversation. I realize their marriage is in trouble but I felt it was too gimmicky.

I am honestly completely lost, just completely. It's way too complicated.

Give it another try. Watch Dark family tree videos on youtube and season 1 and 2 recap videos. I recommend the official Dark web page where theres a family tree which updates for each new episode. Trust me it's worth it! 🙂

I just found out yesterday that it was released so I started re-watching the entire series 1 and 2. You can skip through it quite quickly and get the gist of what you may have missed.
