Donnie Dark

I went into this thinking it was going to be a darker version of Stranger Things. In actuality I'd say it reminds me more of Donnie Darko. It's like Donnie Darko's darker, more atmospheric, German brother.

You've got the whole time/wormhole theme going on, like DD, the mad elderly person in the village going on walkabouts, the slow sombre track playing to the various characters in the village looking sad (become a bit of a gimmick in this show), and then there's the 80's connection with even Tears For Fears being one of the artists on the soundtrack used. It definitely feels like that film is one of the influences behind this.

Anyone else feel this?

Good show though.
