I like this movie but..

I didn't like how Layla was forced to accept that her cousin and ex fiance were getting married. Layla and her cousin grew up together and were practically like sisters and here goes the cousin taking the leftovers. To me that wasn't right, especially since it was family. If I was Layla, I wouldn't have attended the wedding or talked to the cousin (ans aunt) afterwards. Layla was too nice!

Amen!! My feelings exactly. I DVR'd it and had to rewind it because I didn't understand what had happened. They didn't really show a time lapse, so it was like it happened overnight. I would have shunned both the cousin and aunt and never spoke to either of them. That was all kinds of wrong!!!

reply

The previews of the movie made me believe that Seth ruined the engagement because of his own actions (him professing his love for Layla).

reply

"Leftovers?" Point of order: the dude dumped the protagonist to be with the cousin, and probably carried out a torrid sexual affair beforehand. There were no "leftovers."

reply

Regardless of who broke with who and what the situation is, both of them are equally considered leftovers.

I couldn't agree more , this maybe the third time I see something similar in these Hallmarks movies (one from Mrs Miracle and the other I forgot the name of the movie but the genders were different about a guy forced to go on a road trip with a woman along the way he tells her that his brother stole his fiancée).
They are forcing a message that you should forgive because it's your family but real family doesn't do that to a family member to begin with!

reply

It probably doesn't matter now, but the second movie you're talking about is A Christmas Detour. I hated that storyline of the brother stealing his girl and then having to forgive them. Hallmark needs to stop that agenda lol family does not mean automatic forgiveness in that aspect.

reply

Same thing happened in Snow Bride. The guys brother came home for Christmas and he was engaged to his brother's ex-fiance.

At the end, the brother broke up with her, but all was forgiven by the male lead. What was his brother thinking in the first place?? You don't do that to family....

"One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad"

reply

You're right I forgot this one. It's like they are doing it for an agenda or something

reply

Snow Bride was a bit different. The finance was in it just to be in the news. She didn't care for either brother. In other words, she used the family.

reply

Yeah, but the brother knew that she was his brother's ex-fiance. Regardless of her intent with either brother, the younger one still dated her and proposed knowing she use to be engaged to his brother.

reply

Thank you that was the movie, yes they need to stop making the ones that were cheated on the bad guys for once one should man up and say no just no , how can you trust that famly member again after what he/she did.

reply

Seriously, hate this kind of storyline too...you just don't steal relationships from family members. What kind of people/person does that? Why are they trying to make it sound all right? Just wrong. It's never happened to me but my family knows better.

reply

If you believe in the concept of romcoms to begin with... "the heart want what the heart wants"

reply

Love is a good and pure feeling , doesn't have to be associated with cheating ,lies and deception .

There is love for the family ,friends , significant other and even strangers , real love is knowing what's right and wrong we're not animals to be controlled by our sexual desires we're more than that because of love.

reply

Layla herself admitted that she was more interested in the idea of being a December bride than of being married to Jack...

reply

Yeah . . . that bothered me too! That guy was entitled to hate his brother for the rest of his life. I don't care if he found love w/Candace Cameron; his brother still stole his girlfriend! What kind of family member does that to another?

reply

I agree. Layla was a doormat. Ugh!

reply

That is the part of the movie I didn't like at all! I hated her trashy cousin and ex. I also hated the pushy aunt who kept trying to force them together. Her daughter was an unbelieveable skank, and she should have never expected instant forgiveness!

reply

Yes, that irritated me so much. The Aunt was so obnoxious. It was ridiculous and so was the cousin's excuse "I fell in love, I didn't mean to hurt you" b.s. Seriously, what would she have done if they were already married? The icing on the cake, of course, was the writers' attempt to throw Layla under the bus with the 'I cared about the wedding more than my fiance' as if that makes everything they did okay. I hated how the Aunt made it seem like her daughter did Layla a favor because she knew they weren't right for each other.
