How did the goons escape at the end?

So, after looting the showroom, how did the goons escape? With no one inside to press the buzzer to unlock the outer door, they both couldn't get out surely? Assuming both doors cannot be open at the same time.

Surely there's a way of leaving for the employees that doesn't involve the button behind the counter. A key hole most likely .

I seem to recall Howard did open the doors at some point but I can't remember if it was a key/keycard or pin. It would make sense to use a pin on a number pad. If key, they could just take it off his body I suppose.

Remember the chisel fell out, too? Howard's employees couldn't even remember how to make it work, it took Howard's know-how to open the gate.

My read on the situation is that the gunfire and breaking glass probably attracted the attention of the jeweler next door who calls the cops who come down to find the thugs in Howard's place, unable to escape, and they get nabbed for two murders and attempted robbery. Good bye, losers.

The goons don't escape. Howard's wife is calling the cops in the last scene they show of her. Odds are the cops would show up before the goons figure out how to get out.

Yeah I thought it was weird though that she called the cops about him being naked in a trunk a week ago though, if she thought that was something to call the cops about why didn't she do it sooner?

Trough the window they hung Adam Sandler upside down before.

I'm assuming they could get out somehow, but good question.

My larger question was that tons of people saw them in the store before Howard was shot. Seems like it would not be difficult to link the to the event. There should be cameras in a place like that (i.e. in the hallway, lobby, entrance). It could take them several minutes to make sure they got all of the footage out of the store. Just seems like a very risky crime; I thought that's why they were leaving when they did, and they did not drop him out the window (because of witnesses). He's got to get rid of the gun, get rid of powder residue, get his DNA out of the store etc. Seems like a ton of complications. Two gunshots went off, so cops or security should be coming.

A related question: There must be a fire code provision that prevents a person from being locked in (i.e. a person should be able to leave a building without knowing a code or having a key etc.).

The goon who shot them would win the dumbest goon award of the year for not only fucking up the bag he would get from finally securing the money for the dude who hired them but also shaking him down for a loooot more for all the shit Sandler's character put them through along with directly extorting Sandler's character for the same reason - like a double tax, but very very heavy.

And that's just off the top of my head. All they did hear was ensure their spots in the penitentiary with zero to show for it
