best movie of the decade?

Amazing movie. Unpredictable, chaotic, extremely well shot, amazing acting and I don't even mind the synthwave soundtrack. One of the best movies of the decade and defo Adam Sandler's best movie. What a pleasure to watch.

"Best movie of the decade" gets thrown around a lot. It has lost its luster, much akin to the words, "I love you."

As this is your first post, I'm sure this is some sort of advertisement, but I feel compelled to reply. Is the movie entertaining as a one-time watch? Yes. To view this film objectively and declare it as even one of the best fifty movies of the decade would just be wrong.

reply

Sandler does it again.

reply

Yes, you can definitively say that someone is 'wrong' for putting this movie in the best fifty of the decade. (Yes, I'm being sarcastic).

That is always such a fascinating discussion. On one hand, of course everyone's opinion is valid, and we're all entitled to believe what we wish, but on the other hand, isn't there some level of objective truth when it comes to film? If you believe Jaws: The Revenge is one of the five greatest films of all time, are you wrong? If you think The Godfather is complete trash, and I say "no, it isn't" are both of our opinions equally valid?

Uncut Gems is good. I don't think its great, but it does some things quite well. I'd probably put it somewhere in a list of the 10 best films I've seen this year.

reply

Well the decade started 8 days ago ;-)

reply

Technically the new decade starts in 2021, but I understand your point.

We'll see what happens. Maybe this truly will be the best film of the new decade. Crazier things have happened, I guess.

The year zero is tangible. The decade is new this year.

It’s def 1 of best 4 2019 but I wuz afraid it ended dis way. Saldie bros just luv dramatic over ze top endin. If it wuznt 4 endin I wud give it 10/10 but alas it’s 8/10.

Just rivetin thru out and never looked at my watch. I feel my own moula on ze line watchin da basketball game.

God, no. Not even close. I went to see this with a friend on his recommendation. He also talked me into watching Good Time first. The Safdie Brothers seem to be allergic to making a movie where the characters are worth redeeming and rooting for.

This one got close to winning me over in the third act, and then squandered it by the big spoiler I won't reveal. What a waste.

Frustrating from start to finish. Hopefully they'll write and direct a movie that resolves in a way that satiates the audience after beating them in the head for 2 straight hours some day.

Not really unpredictable after about 20 minutes, at that point you realize what is going to happen in the end... Now there were lots of chaotic scenes with people talking over each other. Frankly I put it in the same category as Blair Witch, not fun to watch and almost makes you sick. For me it wasn't a pleasure to watch it was painful, what really made it painful was I didn't care about the main character, he was a douche bag and I was just hoping he would get killed sooner so the movie could end. For me I need a reason to care for a character, this character had no redeeming qualities. It certainly didn't make my list of best movies of the decade I would put it on the worst list.

exactly. What a POS annoying movie.

I liked it a lot...was surporised to saee the three "zooming in" shots, one at the start and the lother at the end when Adam Sandler's Howards lying on the ground right before the credits........... (I love the way he plugs his nose and that scene with julia Fox..or was it Idina Menzel)

Super trolling.

reply

Yup, it’s one of the best along with Twilight Series and Gigli.

reply

Best of the decade? Surely You jest.

reply

It's a good film but I don't think it would make my top 100 of the decade.
