Trying to watch it now...but wtF*** is up with this soundtrack?

I'd ask if anyone noticed it, but how can you not? Sounds like a struggling, tone-dead pianist is playing random notes on some space-age organ, its distracting as hell. So random that it doesn't seem to have anything to do with what's actually happening on screen.

This movie looks like it has potential, but as someone who can generally find entertainment value in almost any movie...I'm not sure I can sit through this, its that bad.

I haven't heard anyone else complaining though...to anyone that's seen this, you HAD to have noticed this, right? I've never heard worse background music, I don't think...holy hell man.

Interesting, I just came out of the movie, and can't say I noticed the soundtrack at all until Gigi D'Agostino's "I'll Fly With You" during the end titles.

reply

Ditto

reply

wtf was was that? why did they add that song at the end? made zero fucking sense

reply

It was because of the high he got from his gambling addiction.

I watched the first hour and half or so before giving up on it, and while the story was less than gripping I didn't notice anything odd about the music. If anything, that was the best part, though I'm partial to synthpop and electro-rock music. It certainly wasn't obtrusive in any way, and while I was aware of it, it blended into the background as do most film scores.

reply

Maybe it was the theater I was in...I don't know, but IMO it wasn't really in the background...these notes were resonating right below the volume of their voices, it was way too loud.
You know how people will say they've got to pee so bad that their back teeth are floating? No? Well I've got hillbillies for family members, but that's what this was like...like the characters voices were floating on top of the music. Goddang that's a horrible analogy lol

reply

I was telling my wife I wondered whose bright idea was to put a trippy dippy new age soundtrack. It was distracting as hell.

reply

Thank you, wow thought I was in the twilight zone with nobody else noticing it, it was almost ALL I noticed lol

reply

Agreed
Loud music alongside loud busy dialogue gives me a headache

reply

Yes, I hated much of it, too.

Way too loud at inappropriate moments and wrong type of tune for many of the scenes' moods.

I liked some of it, like the opening music and the Madonna (?) vocal during the closing credits. For much of the movie I was tempted to mute it, but would've missed already hard to hear dialog.

A huge fly in an otherwise hot ointment!

reply

Was thinking the same thing...you'd think you were watching a sci-fi movie. Also it was really annoying how the characters were always talking over each other...gave me a headache.

reply

It’s like the directors were making a movie About gambling addiction and people yelling at each other but the guy writing the soundtrack thought the were remaking 2001.

reply

i LOVED the soundtrack, i found it amazing

reply

I didn't like the weird music that played during a few of the early scenes but it didn't last long after that tho.
