A new Buffy

I think the show is fun. John C. McGinley's one liners are hillarious. It does remind me of buffy in some ways. The effects are what they are, but it works for what the show is. There is a place for black comedy with the horror genre. The brits do it very well so we should give it a try. I enjoy the show for what is.

Amen. It has it's own charm and we shall like it if we want and won't be judged for it.

It's okay. Kind of funny. But come on, it's no Buffy.

Sig, you want a sig, here's a SIG-sauer!

This was almost word for word the response I was going to give. "It's okay. Occasionally funny. But is nothing like Buffy."

I think the "vibe" is very similar... minus the fact that Buffy had that CW-type of teen drama stuff going on with it.

At the very least, I actually think this show feels more like Buffy than it does Evil Dead. In the same way that Evil Dead feels more like the Three Stooges (using horror as slapstick comedy) than it does most horror films and in the same way that This is Spinal Tap and Austin Powers feel more alike than they do to something like Metallica's documentary (Some Kind of Monster) or a James Bond film.

I'm not really going to try to compare it with Buffy, but I definitely do enjoy the show. I agree that John C.'s one-liners are priceless. And his daughter Denise is adorably cute in a wacky, spaced-out kind of way. If my small hometown was more like Willard's Mill, it would be a lot more interesting living here. I'm really hoping IFC brings it back for another season.
