Even if one didn't check out the IMDB page and see the budget of 500,000 I think the lack of any well known actors and the different spelling would alert people this is not Independence day.
But with TV and perhaps Netflix foisting this obvious garbage into their line ups. They make a profit. I hope not but they probably will.
Didn't know there was a sequel coming up to the real movie. I am looking forward to it

Clearly you've never heard of The Asylum production company before? These guys have been knocking out "mockbusters" for nearly twenty years, with incredible success. They're crap, poorly scripted, painfully acted, yet (on occasion) can be quite entertaining.
If you're not interested, don't watch them. But your movie snobbery is best flexed elsewhere as no one takes these movies seriously. Even the wealthy guys who make them. They're simply throwaway movies intended to be watched by a group of friends having a few beers and a laugh. Nothing more.

I did not flex any snobbery, sorry it was taken that way. I asked a question as I have never heard of these guys. But as I assumed, TV needs product and obviously one can make a profit.
I enjoy good bad movies. But currently I enjoy it from Found footage films.
The semi improvisational nature of them hides some peoples bad acting and the ones I know everyone will die in give a satisfactory conclusion.
It's disappointing when I notice a horror movie has a 100,000 dollar budget but they shot it as traditional film.
I just saw a real movie called Midnight Special. Suspense Sci fi. It kept me watching. I like these types with a big enough budget for production values. But familiar faced character actors getting to star to save money but these actors dont usually get to carry a film and they are likable and excellent actors.
