I feel like they've switched directors a few times during the film shooting. It started off serious, bloody and gory, but the editing wasn't that great - then it took a weird comedy route, only the jokes weren't landing.
All in all - this film is kind of all over the place - because it doesn't really know what it wants to be - and even if it decided to stick either to serious tone or a comedic one, the editing, acting and writing - none of them were particularly great.

So yeah - I'd say it's a subpar film not really worth seeing.

Exactly! At first I was like 'what is this, an art film?' with the jump shots that force us to make assumptions about what happened. Then the bad guy, he was comedic in a Joker kind of way.

Then the death toll I was like 'is this meant to be cute?' After awhile I found some of the deaths funny. Then the gay dudes? Was that comedy or meant to make us feel bad? I didn't know what to feel.

Then the mean asian wife, the strange kidnapped son and wanting bedtime stories, I didn't know what to think of this movie.

If I had to guess what the goal was, it was to end up with something like Three Billboards. The problem is it wasn't really funny at all, just silly and strange.

they were going for Fargo. pretty good movie actually, most of what happened made sense, the way the characters might have really acted in the circumstances.

i too caught the fargo vibe. wonder if any of the people who made fargo were involved.
