Armpit hair (non-troll post)

What was that armpit hair talk about?

Was it there just to be creepy? Or to show the innocence of the kids? Was a bit strange...

I found it strange as well.

I found the movie rather odd, but compelling

One of the "real" horrors of the film seems to be puberty - all of the kids in their own ways are confused about changing bodies, stuck in an awkward transitional phase they don't know how to deal with (manifested as actual loss of motor control, among other things). The adults, too, don't know how to handle it, and one of the tensions of the film is that gap in understanding and communication between parent and child.

The son didn't seem old enough to begin puberty

reply

You don't have to be old enough to be curious about it. However, the kid is probably 11 or 12, so not far off. Also, the dad telling him about masturbation reinforces the idea.

reply

Interesting... It did increase the awkwardness and tension 👍

Were the adults not pubescent children? I remember it like it was last month.
