Stephen Herek who once showed some talent (Mr Holland's Opus) has become a real hack. What's happened to him? Did a few flops back to back and now seems stuck doing nothing but bad TV. Has definitely lost his mojo, milking/overworking every moment to such an extent that material that should have been charming, is simply cloying. Feh.
