Connecting the dots

I was reading the bio of Gloria Graham who is a favourite of mine (It's a wonderful life, In a lonely place etc.) and saw the reference to her being in Liverpool as she was dying, flying home in the last few hours of her life, and the phrase 'Film stars don't die in Liverpool'. I remembered seeing the title in upcoming projects for a Julie Walters, so looked it up again, now I see this movie and indeed it appears to be the story of GGs last days. Odd that it isn't mentioned on GGs page yet. I was surprised to see she married her former stepson and had children with him and his father amid allegations which would no doubt carry the stigma of paedophilia and cause her to be demonised today (as the UK has adopted the American predisposition to fear sex and lose perspective, dealing always in absolutes of good and bad). I wonder if that aspect of Gloria's life will be covered?

I can't imagine that "that aspect" of GG's life won't be covered in the new movie, since the author of FSDDIL visited Grahame in Los Angeles and met her family. It was quite confusing, since GG had a child with Nicholas Ray and had two children with Anthony Ray, in addition to one with Cy Howard. If I've got this right, the child she had with Nicholas Ray was both the half-brother and uncle of the children she had with Anthony Ray. And the children she had with Anthony Ray were both the grandchildren and stepchildren (sort of) of Nicholas Ray. And they all lived in a trailer, with GG's sister and her sister's children. No kidding.

It was a scandal back then and damaged her career, along with her reputation for being difficult to work with.

If you can find her biography "Suicide Blonde" by Vincent Curcio, it is well worth a read.

Does anyone know when this film will be released?

I don't know when it will be released, but my guess (not that you care to know, lol) is that it will probably premiere at TIFF this Autumn. It has been in post for months. Based on the director/story, it's the type of film that will go for a festival premiere, and it doesn't strike me as a Cannes-type project. TIFF seems like an appropriate fit. After that, I imagine it will go limited around late October/November-ish, possibly December, depending on the reviews.
