Recently I've seen a lot on social media about how Battlefield has just kicked CODs ass in the trailer dept and will be a far superior game and destroy CODs sale etc etc.
I do agree that Battlefield looks like a better game in terms of graphics, and action, but I think that they are different games in their own rights and to compare them isn't really very fair.
Recently COD is all about the frantic and ridiculous run-and-gun style where you can pull off insane stunts and kill-streaks from fast reactions and knowledge of the maps (spawn points etc)
Battlefield (at least to me) is more about planning, objective play and team work - a component that is definitely lacking in COD (the number if times I've been shot by a "team mate" to get my care package!). If you don't play the objective as a team in Battlefield then you will loose, simple as that. That brings a new element to the multiplayer that just isn't there in COD.
I will probably get both of these titles like I have done in previous years and I will enjoy them for each of their merits.
call of duty is for the dumb masses the same type of people who end up in the news for shooting there brother over a cheesburger or shooting someone who stole a snickers bar from a store. call of duty is also filled with little kids who are the type of kids that would take there ball and go home on the school playground when they were losing or didnt want a good player to play with them. I will not understand why so many people keep buying the same old call of duty trash every year and all the dlc every year.
Cod has been the same for 10+ years agreed, but it was also the same back when it was a World war 2 only shooter, back before the split with the medal of honor. <-- you young kids won't remember that...
When did futuristic games set in space go out of fashion? I didn't get the memo.
Sure, I thought some people would like it and some won't, but then there was that massive surge in dislikes on the CoD:IW trailer...
There were so many times a game was released that wasn't to my liking (eg. old WW1/WW2 based games) and I didn't complain, I just didn't play... but the CoD community has really become a whiney bunch of crybabies.
Call of Duty is SO much more fun. More engaging campaigns, better weapons, no fricking lag time issues or restarting missions over friendly fire (they make it impossible in COD, but Battlefield its easy to keep doing the same thing over and over, even on accident). Also, checkpoints are much better in Call of Duty (fail in Battlefield, you basically start right where you were, and all your progress was for *beep*
So yeah, the more fun game to me will always be Call of Duty.
I can argue points for and against what you've said.
For me, it all boils down to if I want to play a game where I can largely switch off and just run-and-gun (COD), or if I want to throw a bit of tactics into the mix and have a bigger challenge (BF).
I find the story in the recent campaigns of COD (anything after Modern Warfare) to be a little weak and repetitive, with set action pieces and absurd futuristic themes. By comparison BF at least sticks to a level of realism, even though it still can be repetitive. But aren't all first person shooters repetitive by design? Going to have a character you never see except in cut scenes, with a gun, fighting the same things in different environments. There is only so much you can do there.
In terms of weaponry - going to disagree with you there. COD weapons are obviously based off real weapons and BF has those weapons.
I've never had a problem with friendly fire - so I'm not sure what you mean here.If you're referring to multiplayer then, like COD, you can only teamkill on hardcore.
And I've never had any issues with lag - that'll probably be down to your internet connection rather than the game.
You make valid points, and maybe I was a little harsh in my first post.
I will say this: the recent Battlefields (like 4 and Hardline) are much better than the recent COD games (like Black Ops 3, which to me feels more like Terminator Salvation than Call of Duty). Not saying Infinite Warfare will be bad, but the futuristic stuff is getting pretty old in the series now.
I agree - the advanced weaponry and perks etc are a little overboard.
But I think I'm right in saying that the next COD is either back to modern day times or back to WW2? I seem to remember seeing a teaser about it a little while back. If it is going back to WW2 then this is the COD I want!
i played the battlefield 1 beta and loved it. The graphics, sound, gameplay were amazing. Ive just played the infinate warfare beta and thought its rubbish. Hate all the future jumping about, running across walls. was getting killed every 20 seconds. Respawn, then killed straight away. Played more like an arcade game. Only reason im still going to get infinate warfare is just for the modern warfare remastered as that was brilliant.
