What was the big fuss about the front carriage?

Hi all,

This film was pretty good, quite different from other zombie films of the past.

However , there's a few questions that I have. Please advise if possible.

1) why did the main bunch of characters make such a big deal about getting to the front of the carriage? Wouldn't it be just as safe right next to the other carriage?

2) the selfish carriage. After the 'good' bunch of people broke into the carriage , they allowed the good people to go further ahead. Wouldn't further carriages be safer? The selfish carriage had zombies next to their carriage whereas further carriages had more locked carriages in between.

3) why not just wait till night? Zombies couldn't see properly , they were better off staying somewhere until dark and then proceeding with their journey?

Any other questions you may have, please add.

Thanks!

1. The kid from the baseball team wanted to meet up with his friend in the selfish carriage.

2. The selfish carriage had more room so maybe that was why?

3. They wanted to get to Busan before it was blocked by quarantine. I assume they also wanted off the zombie train asap.

1. Yes, but they didn't want them in the carriage in case they were infected. I guess that is sensible thinking, but it wouldn't be worth breaking down the door which will compromise the safety of everyone else. The girl could have offered to join the nicer group and left the selfish carriage.

2. I don't think that was the case. If I remember correctly, the main group of people had 5 or 6 members? Any carriage on a train accommodates for a lot more than that. Even if the selfish carriage had more space, is it really worth killing each other for that extra bit of leg room?

3. Yes, technically the selfish carriage would get to Busan a few seconds sooner because they were in a carriage ahead, but then they allowed the good bunch of people into the further carriages.

Thanks for your input.

They're simply that stupid.

1. They wanted to rescue the pregnant wife and daughter. It just happens that selfish car was the nearest safe car after the rescue. As for the baseball player, he probably misses his friends and did not want to be left behind.

2. There are way more selfish people than good people. I saw the movie again and the car good people moves to is much smaller and dingy. Besides, I think the car selfish people were in was safe, as long as the window is covered and closed. I was more bothered that they did not attempt to cover it.

3. KTX is a bullet train. A ride from Seoul to Busan is less than 3 hours, much less if it skips stations. It would've arrived before the night fall and if the train stops and waits, it would be a target and Busan may close the track.

1) They wanted to get safe, all of them and I think they were also talking about leaving the zombie infested cars behind - So maybe they thought, they need to hurry, to not get stuck with hundred of zombies in the middle of nowhere.
The risk with zombies next to them is still huge - You have zombies on both sides - much harder to cover than in the front car, where you only have on side to cover.

2) Well, they were stupid, but at least they got what they deserved.

3) The train left early in the morning - I doubt there is time to wait, since that train is supposed to arrive the same day. It wouldn´t make sense to wait for that. However, they tried to exploit the seeing at the dark thing, as they waited for tunnels.

3/ True dat.

Wait till nightfall and you can ride a well-oiled bike right across the country, armed with some pebbles to throw the zombies off the scent.

There was no fuss, the two adult guys were in 9 and their pregnant wife and daughter were in 12, when the chubby guy said it might be stupid to fight all the way there and then fight all the way back the baseball kid said their were survivors in 15 so they could just keep going straight instead of returning to 9.

Watch the movie and pay attention, young Padewan.
