Started out liking this and wanting to give it a chance ...

but seeing seth McFarland on TV being so smug revolts me, not to mention the preachy and derivated nature of so many of the episodes, I finally got tired of waiting for some real originality and decided to stop watching.

I thought the best episodes were the human-machine relationship between the doctor and ... what's'name the robot, and then the turnabout when the robot race turns out to be murdering hate-mongers. But the good episodes are so uneven and far apart ... no thanks.

Piss off back to your Discovery, then. Leaves more REAL Star Trek for the rest of us!

Even so the Orville really grew on me - it just feels more like the old '90 Star Trek because it copied so much from it.

Still very enjoyable to watch!

But Discovery is great too. Hoping for a Pike-Spin off, now ;)

So you stopped watching with only 5 episodes left? After watching already over 20?

And you missed the season 2 finale - which was great?

Or did you just stop after the conclusion of season 2 ? If so --- I did too - but just because there are no more episodes left.

The Orville really grew on me - even so - many concepts where directly taken / copied from TNG - but the cast is great and it is just so enjoyable to watch.

And I like Discovery too.

Great to have good SciFi with high production value back on the TV (including the Expanse).

I was a hater but I don't have a lot going on. I am a fan of the show now. I was pissed off that alara left the show , she was my sci fi crush

reply

Alara was an interesting character and I don't like her replacement who is bland and boring. I heard they wanted a more mature and serious security officer since the show has changed from comedy to more drama type episodes. They did something similar to John LaMarr by making him more serious with his new commanding officer role instead of clowning with Gordon Malloy on the bridge which I miss.

I'm a hater. I wanted to like this show and it certainly had its moments, but the bad most certainly out-weighs the good. And Seth's twitter feed is absolutely insufferable. I won't be following this show to whatever pay service it got farmed out to. The adventures of Bortus and Moclans will just have to continue without me.

reply

Yeah, too much bloddy Bortus.
