Just watched episode 1...

After a lot of suggestions being a Trek fan and because Discovery sucked so bad I finally came around to watching E1.. and I'm already annoyed.

Why did it seem like the show was trying to make me believe that I'm supposed to show some sort of sympathy and or like a wife that committed adultery? Is that like the norm now a days and we're just supposed to bend over and take it? Then by the end of the show we all see Ed's real weakness, accepting her as first officer already knowing how untrustworthy she is. Then of course! "Oh, just remember, he's only Captain because of me!" just to solidify that yeah, we actually do bend over for it, or at least the puppets do.

In all honesty, I for one would just find another first officer because there will inevitably be something that comes up later on that's just going to return to the stupid story line (and / or endanger lives on some mission), and if I were forced to pick her as first officer I would have fabricated a accident and threw her out the airlock..first officers can be replaced. Such bullshit. Only on television!

I want to like it, but does it try to shove stupid shit like this down my throat throughout the show? Does that story line ever end (preferably by her getting shoved out a airlock)?

I ask you to give the show one more try by watching episode 9 from season 1 called "Cupid's Arrow".
It answers your question in a very interesting way.

I remember the first episode left me wondering if it was going to be good. It gets better once you get used to everyone.
