Argh ... is Halston Sage as Lt. Alara Kitan off the show for good now?

Sweet kiss off and everything ... pretty gripping episode,
including 2 former Star Trek doctors and some pretty off-putting violence,
but I really liked this character and writing her off, firing her or her deciding
to quit is not what I wanted to see for the show.

Well according to IMDB she's on board for the next several episodes, so I have no idea what's going on. She is one of my favorite characters so I hate to see her go. And I sure hope they're not replacing her with that obnoxious-as-hell Lt Tharl. He's sickening.

reply

Sick!

reply

Right on, brotha!

I thought the send off was a little over the top for a character we've only known for a dozen episodes.

I don't think she's coming back after all that.

Put's a huge hole in the cast dynamic which was shaky to begin with.

reply

I agree with you, Tandy.

With all the importance and comradery placed on her departure, it wouldn't be surprising to see her character show up later in the series. Once people watch the current episodes back-to-back, unlike the live audience who have waited patiently to see where the story goes, her emotional leave will come off as corny.

Hopefully, doing something like this early in the show's run will give the creators time to sort things out, and not a bad thing, where it's not much of a pay-off for fans who have invested their time.

My wife and I both said the exact same thing. I think Spock would have gotten a less memorable and emotional sendoff if he left during the third season of TOS...

reply

Yes, great observation!
In Spock's case, it wouldn't even be necessary, just a nod from Captain Kirk and acknowledgment by looking his way would suffice. Less is more.

Let’s see, Seth McFarland sends off the very nearly only eye-candy on the show and replaces her with a bro elephant, and people can’t sense they’re being trolled? lol

reply

Halston is gorgeous but not the only 'eye candy' on the show take a look at Adrianne Palicki. but yeah I think this is a troll action by Seth just as he did on Family guy with Brian's death.

reply

Palicki is a good looking woman (other than that odd palate bite), but I wish she excised that knot growing between her eyes.

reply

It looks like a tick.

reply

It's just that it's in a bad spot. She's got beautiful eyes, but that mole is distracting. It would be like having Taylor Swift sing in the middle of a chorale.

reply

I read somewhere that they are replacing her with another female security officer from the same planet as Alara. The elephant guy with Crippled Joe's voice was just an interim security guy.

reply

Yeah supposedly the character of Talla Keyali played by Jessica Szohr is going to be a a Xelayan security officer.

reply

Similar to how TNG threw off their eye-candy head of security in first season, yes? I like Alara but I also like that they did this. It shows that no one is safe really. Gives a bit of threat to other characters you like. That is good for overall suspense.

I liked this episode. It is the first good one of season 2.

reply

Yar eye candy? She was puss filled eye boil to me... I cheered when they offed her.

reply

The character/actress was less than impressive. But I admit to liking her appearance, though. I have, on my character sheet, a thing for ladies with short hair. However, I was not overly bummed when they killed her.

reply

Fans seem split 50/50 with her appearance. I'm neutral on hair length, but just didn't care for her character.

reply

I didn't like the character either but then again, I didn't like half the characters in TNG that first season. Should have done away with Troi and Wesley early, too. Took a me awhile to warm to many of the rest.

I hated when they brought her back as a Romulan. The story was cool but that aspect of it was pretty bad.

reply

I thought she was hotter as a Romulan!!!! LOL

reply

And the other Beautiful woman they go in as a 'replacement' turned out to be a spy in disguise.. oh well.

reply

I didn't like her much in s1 but have gotten used to her. Rumor is her and the boss broke up and she's gone for good.

reply

You mean Seth and Halston? Ewwww

reply

I was wondering if that was the cause, as well.
