After the first 5 eps it seems like this is pure queer gender

Was happy to see that new series, which was more Star Trek like then Star Trek (Discovery). And at the first 2 eps I thought "Yes, thats how Star Trek should be" (beside the often bad jokes). But with each further ep it was more and more obvious that, within this series, men are presented as complete idiots and women presented as being perfect.

The captain is a loser. He dont have any confidence and most work is done by his First Officer (a woman). She was also the one which withstood torture in "If the Stars Should Appear" without any doubt. She discovered the bad nature of the time traveler (again a woman) at "Pria" and let the captain confess that he was completely wrong (what was a script bug, cause wouldnt the captain trusted her all of them would be that be ep 5!).

The physically strongest character on board is a woman (Alara). The wise old character is ... a woman (Dr. Claire Finn).

So whats with the other men characters? Helmsman Gordon Malloy is a drunken idiot. He was even presented as one at "About a girl" (BTW the baby to protect was indeed female). And John LaMarr is the archetypical black guy (he jumps around when he hits a ship and shouting "Boom". Perfect equality appearance ;) ).

Sorry, but right now the series appears like some sexist comedy of the 1950s. Only difference at its sexism is that the men are stupid as sh*t and women are perfect. Read now that scripts are done by a woman. I hope that the first few eps are just some accident and that the other eps will become better. But right now the obvious message destroys this otherwise fine show completely. I dont like to be described as an idiot. That was stupid at the 50s and its now not a bit smarter.

Most likely overcompensation of the way women used to be treated in scifi shows. Of course, this could also be a symptom of the male guilt that millennials share...

For me, I just ignore this stuff and don't let it affect what I watch. Not nearly egregious enough to worry about IMO.

When the producers means that you, the female (in the 50s)/male (today) tv viewer, are a complete idiot, then im not going to even support them insulting me.

I will watch a few more eps of Orville. If that antique sexism (as mentioned above .... its on a level I havent experienced since 50s movies/tv series) wont stop, then Orville is sexist sh*t and therefor not supportable at all. Really sorry for that series (thats also the reason why I give it a last chance). It could have been the far, far better Star Trek series.

And to be frankly .... I dont give a damn, if virtual nonsense like "overcompensation" or "male guilt" are the cheap excuses for pure sexism. Its anyway simply pure sexism. Im sure that 50s men had some lame excusses for their sexism too.

I don't disagree with this. I also didn't love the back half of the show that much. The whole show was some goofy experiment. i'm gonna hold out final judgment for the next season, which they've already said is gonna be more serious with the science/adventure portion of the show.

The second half was a little less intrusive, but the female cast still lead the ship (Kelly suggested that LaMarr got promoted). At least at ep 12 Kelly made the major mistake (its anyway awful how this crew acts at new environments. Noone with a working brain would act that way (how Ed and Gordon act at the Krill ship ; or John at the social platform planet. And then Kelly at the planet at ep 12). It seems like the female script writer isnt that experienced to write believable situations. At the social platofrm planet it would have been a way better idea to use that "ignore pregnant woman" crime for the crew, cause its absolutely plausible that they examine their scan results and wouldnt see that pregnant women).

There were 1 or 2 good episodes (the one where Alara fought their anxiety and episode 12). "Into the fold" would have been nice, if not any mistkae by the mother would have been apologized by the script writer the instant she made them. Obviously female scritp writing :) . And it was also completely unnecesarry to kill the guy who captured her.

All in all it wasnt only wasted time (ST Discovery would be wasted time only), but they have some real work to do for season 2.
