Just my opinion here... Gave it a shot, probably won't bother watching it anymore, after 2nd episode. Seems cliched, generic, boring, and jokes were weak fillers. I enjoy Star Trek, Galaxy Quest, and Family guy, but would rather watch those again than this. Just MY opinion.

shareI was around when Airplane first hit the theaters, and then the Police Squad films. Loved them all, but that time has passed. My biggest fear going in to The Orville was that McFarlane was going to use the Airplane blueprint and make this a total farce or sight gags and sounds. I'm glad they're paying attention to the plot and mixing the silliness in along with it.
Star Trek TOS had some silly episodes (Tribbles) and no one complains about that.

shareYep, Angie Tribeca did follow the Police Squad blueprint, which is why I didn't watch it (past the first episode). I suspect it's because I'm getting older that outright farces don't appeal to me the way they used to. I used to enjoy that level of silliness more but I'd prefer my silliness at a more subdued level, which is why I think I enjoyed The Orville.

shareAre you kidding me. The second episode was really good. It felt like a was watching a real star trek show instead of some soulless ripoff (aka Jar Jar Trek). Frankly i don't even care if the jokes aren't funny. Because at this point that not why im watching it for the jokes..

shareI'm just going to watch this till it gets cancelled it looks too pricey to stay on very long the jokes are pretty bad but that's what happens when your a head writer stretched too thin all your good jokes used up in family guy's first 3 seasons his big head just has room for his ego
