Yeah, it needs to be edgy and dark with tortured teenage/early twenties characters who have supernatural powers that they're struggling to cope with, and a cool older guy who oversees them. Now that would be original.

Yeah it should star a total emo character and his bitchy girlfriend. And the Captain should basically be Tom Cruise from Top Gun. Also there should be tons of explosions and everybody gets saved by one man Superblood. Oh shit they already did that and it was directed by Jar Jar Abrams.
