Kandahar scene

It'd been a while since I saw Daredevil s.2, so I have to admit being surprised at the Kandahar sequence - specifically when I suddenly put it together with Schoonover's testimony in Daredevil

Now THAT's how you do a flashback origin!

At the end of the White Buffalo song, I flashed back to Frank telling Matt, "We don't get to pick the things that fix us, Red"

What's really brilliant is how Schonover described it as a heroic and brave act when in reality, it was an ugly affair that would be gruesome to witness firsthand (to say nothing of the conspiracy behind everything). It's a great way to show the difference between the propaganda and reality without making it too obvious or preachy.

From the trailers, I could tell the flashbacks of Frank’s time in the military were going to show the moment where he saved everyone by taking out an entire army all by himself. And we did get that, but we also learned that Frank’s ballsy move wasn’t the most heroic thing... like Frank said, it’s like they went in as the American Taliban.

In all, the Kandahar climax and all the flashbacks there were exceedingly well-done. It’s no doubt one of the series’ highlights
