Panel

I did a freeze frame of the latest promo so I could see some of the panel. It definitely lacking in star-power but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't be good players.

Rosie O'Donnell seems to be the big name, for better or worse. The only other person I recognized and can remember off the top of my head is D.L. Hugeley. He's generally funny but given that Alec Baldwin is hosting, it seems that seat is crying for a pre-injury Tracy Morgan. JB Smoove would have also worked. There was an Edie, but not sure which one, and I couldn't see the people on the upper left and upper right (Rosie is upper center).

Hope this won't flop, but Match Game was so 70s, and Alec Baldwin looks like he's trying too hard to convince us that this show is great (which usually is a bad sign). Gene Rayburn would have been 99 this year. Too bad he's unavailable!

I think it already jumped the shark. Baldwin wad worse than I expected. Rosie, Debra Messing, and the guy in the upper right (familiar, but don't know who he is) were really the only decent panelists. JB (who I don't really know either) really needs to take it down a notch. Or two. Or more.

You just have to be resigned-
You're crashing by design

He's no Gene Rayburn (ask your parents, kids), but I thought Alec did a fair job for being Alec Baldwin. I thought Rosie and Debra were the best panelists as far as answers, and JB did well for the entertainment factor. Michael Ian Black (he was in Another Period, Jim Gaffigan and did the I Love The____ for VH1) was decent, but I think the weakest one was Sutton. No presence at all.

I'm the best there is at what I do, and that ain't pretty.

I didn't realize that the show was being made as a "comedy" show and never meant to be a game show. The old show still played it straight amidst all the hijinks, but that is all this show is.

Can you imagine Richard Dawson giving a contestant a cruise after missing the contestant's answer? That's when I knew the show was so far over the shark it didn't even matter (Rosie giving the first lady a cruise even though Rosie had the better answer).

The guy in the upper right is Michael Ian Black. he's been in a lot of stuff, including VH1's I Love the 80s shows. He was a great choice. Debra Messing was ok, but she could have been better if the show was being done straight. She gave some dumb answers for the sake of comedy. Rosie was good. Regardless of what you think of her politics, she is pretty sharp for a show like this.

I was wrong on JB Smoove. He is over the top in a lot of his stuff, but they just sort of let him run wild here, not something this show needed. He still could be a good player if he wanted to.
