More care needs to be taken with guests..

Some segments are exciting and funny while others feel like paid promotions.

The dinner with the "superheroes" was great because it felt authentic. The interview with the soccer player was great. Wanda Sykes was funny. The education guy was interesting.

Then you have segments with Gwen Stefani, Gwyneth and Aguilera which feel fake and are quite boring. They are coming onto a talk show to sell a product -- that is lame.

If Chelsea can find guests that are a little more interesting the show could be a hit. How about some stand up comics, "the best" politicians, intellectuals.

I don't disagree; I get the feeling that it'll definitely take a season or two to find the proper rhythm and fine tune what works and doesn't work; she has a great forum to use to her advantage and a talk show on Netflix is a new concept. By that I mean the shell is the same (of how we view a traditional talk show) but we don't have the commercial breaks, it's super casual, the overall rhythm and feel is just slightly different than that of say, The Tonight Show or The Daily Show.

Definitely. The first seasons are always kinda wonky. Just look at Family Guy or Simpsons. They're something but not quite it. She does have something. I'm a little tired of hearing about her swimming pool and hired staff but alas, there are redeeming moments. Like Bill Nye was cool and those two dudes talking about porn addiction was pretty fascinating.

I don't understand the whinging about celebrities advertising their books, movies or whatever.... all talk shows do that. kimmel, fallon, letterman, leno... all had celebrities on advertising their music or movies or tv... I think Chelsea is trying to get away from being 100% celeb focused and instead have some real life stuff. I don't think she's claiming to be fully serious but yes some stuff is fun and some serious.

I really liked the episode with Bill Maur (??spelling) and the former police chief who talked about having a demilitarized police force. Chelsea seemed to be into the conversation, but stared to rush the guests. The whole episode could have been just these two guests!
