Danny's Ending: Truly Bizarre. (Spoilers)

This penultimate episode (6/19) was just really bizarre. So they finally got rid of Danny via this made up phone issue. I guess Bryan was successful in pulling the wool over the captain's eyes. This whole issue with the phone was fabricated by Bryan to begin with and then perpetuated by Hannah and Bobby. I thought it was good how they would show Bobby or somebody complaining about Danny using the phone this episode and then cut to Bobby or someone else with theirs out using it.

The only person talking any sense this entire episode (also season) was Ben again. His talk with the other guys was correct. They are not there to "teach someone a lesson" in some twisted and misguided parenting attempt. They are there to do a job and get though six weeks. Who cares about most of this sh!t that they have been going on about with Danny. Get over it. It is all nothing in the grand scheme of the season. The scene with them tying up to the mooring buoy was ridiculous. They all keep saying Danny sucks but then keep sending him out to do the work while they just sit there and bitch at then how he does the work. I have tied boats off on mooring buoys before and docked bigger ships than this one on the show. Sometimes it is chaotic and lines are getting thrown around. You just need to get it done. Bryan then nitpicking afterward and even during is uncalled for. I loved how both Bobby and Bryan were yelling contradictory orders to Danny while trying to tie the boat up to the mooring buoy. Ridiculous.

I also lost a lot of respect for this captain. Not only did he have the wool pulled over his eyes but he has completely misjudged Bryan. Making him the First Officer is a HUGE mistake. What a lie he told the captain when he said he tried different methods with Danny. Really? What different methods? Bryan only knows two methods, one, confront, provoke, and attack your employees in front of the entire crew. The other method is similar but do it while completely drunk. I want Bryan on my management team.

After Danny left it has become clear who the real problems are, Bryan and Bobby. Jen flat out states this. And then we see it at the end of the episode and in the preview for next week. It looks like every crewmember has a serious problem with Bryan. I did not get where the captain got this idea from that the whole crew had a problem with Danny. I have watched every minute of this season and the only people to have a problem with Danny were Bryan, Bobby, and Hannah. So it is kind of funny that the captain says this about Danny when it is really true of his "trusted" first officer.

I also could not believe that the captain said nothing and was totally fine with Bobby's behavior. Can you say "roid rage?" So they fire a guy over some made up phone issue but they keep a guy who completely overreacts and flies off the handle, gets violent, tries to beat up other crewmembers, throws stuff out into a hallway at four in the morning, keeps the crew up, and then later gets drunk and threatens the entire crew. Ya, let's keep that guy! Bobby is a danger to the crew and himself NOT Danny.

What classy people too when they celebrated someone getting fired. Ya, lets celebrate maybe someone's worst day of their life. What horrible people. And that was a bully move by Bryan at the end lying again to Danny and telling him he has to take the donkey up the hill. A bully until the very end. He just couldn't help himself.

Danny is better off without that crew. They however are NOT better off without him because they are the problems. I will bet you anything that Bryan, Bobby, and Hannah have problems with other people wherever they work or go in life.

Was there a coup of sorts to get Danny fired? Sure.
Did he deserve to get fired many charters ago? Absolutely.

So regardless of anyone being "fooled" at this point - Danny proved long ago he's not fit for this type of job.

I have known of many people who celebrated when the troublemaker was escorted out. Danny caused his own dismissal.

I can't believe he still thinks he has countless future yachting jobs ahead of him.
Who would hire him?

reply

eweland,

I would hire Danny WAY BEFORE I would even consider the applications of Bryan, Bobby, and Hannah. And probably a few others on board too.

Danny may have been a dumb kid but he was hardly a troublemaker and he did NOT cause his own dismissal. This entire season people have been trying to get him fired. It is also pretty clear Bryan is lying his pants off about the kid too. The whole phone thing was a non-issue made up by Bryan.

Listen to what Ben said. Who cares. It is not a big deal. Get through the charter. They could not do that because it must have been personal.

reply

WHY are you still defending him?

WHY?

reply

eweland,

I am NOT defending him. I just stated above that he is a DUMB KID. I am pointing out the bizarre hypocritical actions on board this boat and the far worse people.

Why do you dislike him so much? Is it personal with you?

reply

Even Ben, his biggest advocate, was telling Danny yachting isn't right for him. That's not to say he can't find a job doing something, he just sucks at this.

Besides, anyone who doesn't think Danny was just there to stir sh!t up hasn't seen enough reality TV. My guess is that it was all fake. On one episode he even mentioned going to Hollywood. He'll probably wind up on the Real Housewives and a dozen other reality shows.

I would hire him before those three vipers any day. Shame on the captain for not having a better handle on his crew and not speaking to other crew members about what's really going on with the charter and who was really the problem.

It just goes to show you - it doesn't matter what you do (since Danny always got great feedback relayed directly to the captain about his performance) its all about who you know and who'd @ss you kiss.

We all knew Bryan and co were jerks but shame on the captain.

BruceTJenner,

Thanks. Exactly. That is why I said what a bizarre ending. What a bizarre season.

I just checked out the main web site and twitter. Danny DID get another job in yachting as a deckhand and worked an entire season in the Caribbean. And it says he still is working in the industry. Also Bobby right now is apologizing on twitter for everything and both him and Bryan are getting hundreds of hate tweets from people. Hilarious. They have to know by now how wrong they all were.

Danny was a dumb kid but that was no way to handle it all season.

reply

Why don't people like this ever learn? It had to boomerang on them and I can't wait for the reunion to see them "grovel" just a little looking for forgiveness! They had to be in total denial to think what they did was cool! Now they've made the captain look just a bad! ;-/

fiero-49251,

I agree. Ben and I are on the same page with what he said tonight. Yes, Danny is young, dumb, and not the greatest employee. But who cares. You basically need just a warm body to do what Danny needed to do. Now they don't have that. It only hurts the rest of the crew. Who cares about the flirting, talking to guests, and his phone. It is all minor crap. Just tell him to get back to work and get through the six weeks. Six weeks, that's it! But the way they handled it just made them then all look like really horrible people.

reply

I was so disappointed the captain let Bobby threaten Danny the way he did. That behavior was totally unacceptable and crossed the line. I suspect when Captain Mark sees the way Bryan and Bobby were behaving behind his back, he will be less than pleased.

reply

wow, I'm shocked that you guys think Danny was a better shipmate than Bobby or Ryan. he violated the privacy of previous guests, with his simpleton gushing and flirting with the guests, and opened them up to a possible lawsuit. His job was not to entertain. If it was, then he was doing a great job! But, it wasn't. He acted like a jerk and was never accountable for his mistakes and never learned. Not that the other guys are perfect, but at least they work hard.

We have totally different perspectives!

A simple mind is a tidy mind.

reply

Actually, I agree Danny was immature, and he absolutely should have been fired when he had his cell phone out after being told not to. But Bobby was out of control, threatening to beat Danny up and throwing his belongings out of their room, while the captain stood awkwardly by. The two issues aren't exclusive- Danny was a d-bag, but so were Bobby and Bryan.

reply

Lawsuit! Everyone knows they're on a television show. Kinda weird to sue when you know that every moment on the yacht will not be private. Also technically Danny is the star of the show so why not take pictures with him etc.?

reply

hihi_hellokitty,

EXACTLY! I don't know how some people completely forget that everyone is on a TV show and signed away any rights and consented to be broadcasted to the world. Also, what would they sue for? Everyone was a consenting adult and willing participant in any flirting and picture taking. People act like he was secretly taking photos of guests who did not know they were being photographed and then went and posted those photos somewhere for all to see. The opposite of that is true.

The only person to take secret photos and show them to other people was Bryan.

reply

You guys are right! They did all sign up for a reality show, so I don't see how there could be a lawsuit. I wonder why they mentioned "privacy" on the show, then. Maybe just as a teaser. And, yes Danny did make the show interesting. He is very immature, but good for reality TV, ha ha. I still don't see how Ben chose Tiffany over Hannah. Oh well! Good TV, and it's fun seeing the Med because I sure ain't going there this summer! I love seeing blue oceans! (they did avoid the beaches that have plastic in the waves though, unfortunately a common sight now)

A simple mind is a tidy mind.

reply

I was shocked at how willy nilly the crew threw trash and cigarettes into the ocean so I am not surprised to hear about plastic in the waves at the beaches.

reply

Danny is unprofessional and doesn't have the class, sense or ego for delivering 5 star service. He belongs on a Carnival Cruise or serving burgers at Chotskis wearing 57 pieces of flare.

That said, Bobby and Bryan are walking liabilities. They are both misogynists and will likely end up being sued for sexual harrassment one day. They are also moronic bullies who lurk around and bellow orders, and use intimidation as a way to manage others. They might do right by the guests, but they are not team players that work well in a closed quarter environment.

Yea, Bryan has abuser written all over him, the way he turned on Tiffany in the hot tub in that one episode was scary.

reply

That was scary. Also, Bobby seems the same. Aside from all of the Julia stalking he sounded like Bryan when he shouted at Tiffany to shut up in the last episode. Misogynistic pricks, no wonder they get along. Butt buddies! ha ha ah Loved that! Danny went out in a ball of fire.

reply

Yeah he was scary and I thought the crew weren't allowed to use the jacuzzi

reply

you're absolutely right
bryan is dangerous and does not belong in boating

And not half as attractive as they think they are.

reply

^ so true. Bobby looks like Bullwinkle, and Bryan looks like a male Nellie Olsen.

Making Danny ride the donkey, then the whole crew laughing and ridiculing him was just too much. Bryan is the biggest douchebag of all and it was painful to see him get a promotion after that.
