Upcoming Dance Audition for Hairspray fans in Baltimore

People living in Baltimore will get to audition for a dance part in the upcoming Hairspray Live on September 15. Three finalists will be chosen and then the winner announced on September 20. Judging by the video of Derek Hough demonstrating the choreography for the audition, it looks like the winner will get to take part in the finale. This seems to be an effort to involve someone who is a fan and not necessarily a professional dancer.

Updating this story, Unissa Cruse-Ferguson receives an early morning wake-up call informing her that she had won the audition for a dance part in Hairspray Live. The audition song was You Can't Stop the Beat, but no info on whether that is the only song she might participate in. How cool for her if she will be able to dance in other numbers as well.
