Movie Songs

they do the movie songs too.

I think there was only one song in the movie that wasn't in the stage musical, and that's "Ladies Choice", sung by Link Larkin. I would be surprised if that was included here as that was clearly written for Efron, who I actually really liked in the film.

Yeah that and the Big Blonde and Beautiful reprise, which doesn't fit into the stage version so it won't be included. They could include Ladies Choice though but I don't think they will either.

I liked Ladies Choice and wouldn't mind seeing it here if they can stage it like they did in the movie. In the movie that song was a fun cinematic number that also showed how Tracy finally joined the Corny Collins Show. I never saw the stage version, so I don't know how they showed this moment originally. I understand though if they don't include it.

In the Broadway show, that sequence had the kids dancing to The Madison.

You know, when GREASE LIVE hit television, it was a perfect blend of both stage AND film and incorporated songs from BOTH. I can see them doing this....if they really wanted too.

LADIES CHOICE is a GREAT song.

Ladies' Choice and The New Girl in Town will be incorporated into the broadcast...

Today, in a Live Facebook chat with E! News, Derek Hough said that he (Corny) Would be singing Ladies' Choice in the show. If I'm not mistaken, the song was originally sung by Link in the 2007 film version.

My guess is this down to the fact that Hough seems to have much more of a belting/rock style voice while Garret Clayton has more of a pop sounding voice. Or at least that's what seems when I looked at YouTube videos of both singing.

Derek Hough is a veteran performer, so in a way I'm not surprised that he gets to perform the song. A little disappointed because I would like to have seen if Garrett Clayton could pull it off. Link getting to sing it in the movie kind of added to his side story of his hope of getting his big break--that he was good enough to get discovered. It also showed Link's growing attraction to Tracy.

I wonder if the song's suggestive lyrics was another reason it was given to Corny instead of Link--to have an adult character sing it instead of a teen. Anyway, I'm assuming it will be a great dance number for Corny and Tracy, and maybe Link will get to join in too.

Link does have that moment in the Broadway show, but he only sings It Takes Two.
