Anachronisms: "Let Me See the Bling"

At the end, after Tracy wins Miss Teen Hairspray, Inez approaches Amber, who's wearing the crown, and says, "Let me see the bling."

This was way before I was born, but I'm pretty sure they didn't use the expression "bling" in 1962.

Any other anachronisms?

I was born in 1960, and boy, if they used the term "Bling"...I sure DIDN'T HEAR IT! LOL

How about near the beginning when we first meet Velma Von Tussle, she talks to Corny (I think) and she uses air quotes.

I'm pretty sure using air quotes wasn't used until the 1980s. The first I remember of it was Chris Farley on SNL when he does his "down by the river" motivational speaker sketch.

Air quotes weren't used in 1962!

Pretty sure Billy Eichner's facial hair was not in fashion in 1962, in fact that was the only thing that bothered me the most! Next would be Penny's go-go boots. A bit too early for those.

Funny, I caught the bling and air-quotes also!

I'll watch again and maybe catch another.

Ooo, I already had another one but I had to go back and double-check. While all of Edna's laundry equipment was spot-on, her yellow basket at the start of "Mama I'm a Big Girl" was too modern. While they largely used wicker baskets at that time there were plastic ones but the webbing was very thin and the top edges were nowhere near as thick and precise and sturdy.

I think I'll show that to my Mom for back-up just to be sure.
