shareI agree. He is underwhelming... I keep finding myself comparing him to Zac Efron. He is very talented and I know this is a different medium, but he does not have the presence that Efron did in the movie.

Darren Criss was busy until a couple of weeks ago. He was playing the title role in the touring company of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He didn't have the availability for rehearsals.
share^ That is true, I suppose, and I can't complain too much because he IS an amazing Hedwig and I'm happy the west coast got to see him do it :)
But still, having him there involved with the Hairspray production but not actually in it just felt like a tease because he would have been such an ideal Link!

Yeah I thought maybe he would have a small role in it since he was doing all the behind the scenes stuff. He is so talented. I saw him on Broadway a few years ago and man is he good.
I wonder if they will give him a role in Bye Bye Birdie? Who could he play? Maybe Hugo... or Conrad? I would love to see that.
