I hate to give family guy credit because they're extremely unoriginal. But I think the did that joke first. Even so, it was better here. This show is hilarious. Can't wait for more. I've seen it 3 times already. Catching new things each time - like the magazine he's reading at the beginning is talking about the upcoming film "Huck"

shareIt's been a while since I've seen the pilot but the joke is just that they're calling him N word jim. In the original books he was called niger Jim over and over and it was no big deal. His NAME was a racial slur, it's insane. It was just a different time. Crazy to think that it was acceptable. Acceptable enough that the book is regarded as a classic and was assigned to kids to read in school.
The joke was that in this very politically correct time, in this action movie with the toughest tough guys straight up murdering each other with their bare hands that they're censoring themselves by saying N-word jim.
