Carrie and Debbie

Just watching this now. Anyone else notice when Debbie does a performance she's usually the youngest one in the room and her songs are unwatchably corny? Carrie would have lived much longer without all those psychiatric treatments. Sad.

Blame the smokes and cokes

and the coke, her meds, etc. She was a ticking time bomb

Yea, I noticed that while watching it. Carrie seemed to always have a Coke in her hand. That's a lot of sugar for a woman her age. Sad to see either of them go. They both were great actors/singers.

Uh, her songs are from MGM musicals and hits from the 1950s so yeah they are going to be corny to contemporary audiences. Though I will say that I love classic musicals so I don't find her songs to be lame or corny.

Secondly, if she was the youngest person in the room, I think everybody would be 83 and older which isn't possible. One thing I will say is despite her difficulty with energy and walking, she actually looked 20 years younger. Carrie actually looked older than her mother for some reason.

Yes, I agree she looked about the same age as Carrie, but it was obvious she was on her last legs. Carrie hadn't aged well, and her unhealthy lifestyle, including smoking, Prozac, and shock treatments I'm certain contributed to her premature aging and death. It's too bad that many great artists/actors/musicians are self destructive. Obviously she was keeping her mother going so when she died, Debbie couldn't go on. But overall it was a good documentary. Carrie's brother Todd obviously was the healthiest and happiest of them all.
