Part of me wishes they didn't air this ...

I found the show utterly sad and too personal. They both tried to put on a act but just seemed lost inside to a degree. But now.... it doesn't matter.... does it. On a last note Carrie's breathing smoking coke drinking and her mental state was a recipe for his passing I'm afraid. Although I'm not a expert she was struggling but didn't admit to it especially in the last 5 to 10 years. Her mom Debbie was clean as a whistle and old. Died a broken heart. In this you can see how weak she was getting.

Billie Lourd I hope she doesn't have go down a bad path. But 50 percent of me thinks she might. The genetics are all there.

reply

How do you know that Debbie was as clean as a whistle?

Also, as far as Carrie's smoking and drinking soda - amongst whatever was not shown but rumored to be possible drugs ---that was her choice as an adult. She had the resources to get help.

reply

I saw this as a last chance to see these two ladies. It was moving to me. I don't give two sh*ts who smoked or did drugs or whatever.

It was their goodbye and I'm grateful for it.

reply

I couldn't agree more.

reply

And me

reply

I have to agree with most of what you said. I wish I'd never watched it. I knew Carrie was whacked, she admitted she was. But I always thought Debbie was a class act. Instructing her daughter in sex DURING sex? Why was Karl flashing balls at the kids? Sick. That whole family was sick. And it tainted my fandom of Debbie. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

It left SUCH a bad taste in your mouth, you flew to the message boards on IMDB to let the entire WORLD know about your bad taste. "The whole family was sick," and then you go on to describe their sickness on every FRICKIN' thread on this board. Jealous much?

reply

Grow up. I posted on a few threads. I came here to see what others thought and posted an opinion. Jealous? Hardly. The only thing I envy those two is their money. I'd like to have sone of the riches. Otherwise I prefer my own life. I'm not bipolar. I'm not sick. I've been married 25 years, never divorced like these two. I'm happy. And my mother never watched me have sex. How can people defend that? But I wouldn't be either of them if you paid me. But I don't have to defend myself to trolls on a message board who have nothing better to do than attack people. Crawl back under your rock, slimeball. Go mess with someone else.

"But I don't have to defend myself," she says, as she goes about defending herself. What a hypocrite.

Hon, nobody cares if you've been married for 25 years. And nobody cares if you're bipolar or not. You still can't watch Singin' in the Rain without thinking about SEX--as you clearly stated in SEVERAL of your repetitive posts--so I wouldn't criticize Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. Maybe you should look into medication. It might help kill the bug up your a$$.

reply

I read Shirley MacLaine's daughter's book and she said that Shirley wanted to do the same thing (instruct her on sex while she was having sex). So in Debbie's defense, I think that might of been "a thing" back in the day. Thinking it would make it easier for the daughter or something (The sexual revolution was going on and hitting everyone- You can see it in "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice"- where sex was supposed to be free and beautiful). I really think Debbie thought it would be good for Carrie and there were probably a lot of groovy therapists that recommended it.

You know that you are going to get old. You just don't realize how fast it is going to happen!

reply

So the part where Carrie tells her friend that she was in the bed with Debbie and that old dude and the guy shows his genitals while bending over, begs the question.... If the kids were in bed with them, did they have sex while the kids were in bed too? Cause that's pretty gross.

reply

LOL no of course not. Just dark gallows humor, poking fun of very awkard life situations.

reply

Of course not, they were probably just watching tv or something all together in the bed before the kids went to their rooms.

reply

Yes correct.

"Carrie was struggling but didn't admit to it"
Hogwash. She openly admitted to having had to resort to "shock treatments" for her mental illness. Her show "Wishful Drinking" was about her struggles. And the medications prescribed to her for her chemical imbalances in the brain are known to cause heart attacks. The household staff, several friends and neighbors all knew CPR. Carrie took the prescriptions knowing full well that they might someday cause a heart attack, because she couldn't stand the mood swings and "voices" that her illness entailed. Of course, like most of us she probably never imagined she'd be on an airplane when the heart attack happened.

reply

Affirmative, yes indeed.

I understand where you are coming from, however, I disagree. Showing people, warts and all is what makes it easy to relate to in my opinion.

reply

how very true, that of what not to accept as "PC" correct and other wise.
