Jesus Christ, D'Sousa is either incredibly cynical or incredibly stupid.

He looks at the Democratic Party of the 1860's and likens it to today's Democratic Party? (Likewise, the Republican Party.)

The Republicans of 1865 WERE THE LIBERALS of their day, for fvck's sake.

Any historian (or person who looks at this subject in any depth) knows this.

But D'Sousa comes on the scene and says, My Heavens!, Those Democrats, They were AGAINST the 13th Amendment (Abolishing Slavery), they were AGAINST the 14th Amendment (Citizenship and Equal Rights), they were AGAINST the 15th Amendment (Right to Vote). In 1865. When Democrats were the Conservatives of their day, and Republicans were the Liberals. In 2016, "The Party of Lincoln", the party of progressivism and liberalism, is actually the current-day Democrats. In 2016, the Republican party is the party of the KKK-- ask the KKK which party they vote, it's always Republican.

I just can't decide whether D'Sousa is incredibly cynical or incredibly stupid. Althought, perhaps he's in in a third class: he ACTUALLY believes the *beep* he's spouting.

What a waste of human space. He put out those "documentaries" about Obama, and about how Obama "would destroy America as we know it"-- Gee, has that actually happened?

Racist much?

reply

Hopefully he doesn't believe a word he says and he's just doing it to milk money from stupid people.

reply

Typical revisionist thinking.
It didn't matter who the liberals or conservatives were back in that day.......
The consensus is clear without that.

Democrats were pro-slavery and racist........
And still are.
The republicans aren't the party of the KKK......the KKK was started by democrats and is still supported by democrats.
That hasn't changed.

The point is, the Democrat party is the party of race-baiting and divisiveness. They were the party of slavery. They maintained power by race-baiting through the Jim Crow era. They maintain power in 2016 by pushing a racist agenda and supporting groups like La Rasa and Black Lives Matter. The Democrats of today are merely the mirror image of the Democrats of yesteryear.

reply

Umm no. Repubs are the racist divise party

So it doesn't matter to you that the KKK is holding rallies for Trump today? What planet are you on?

reply

It doesnt matter to you that Hillary was also endorsed by the KKK?
It doesnt matter to you that Hillary called a KKK leader , Robert Byrd, her "friend and mentor"?
It doesnt matter to you that Hillary's foubdation shares its name with F William Fulbright, a racist segregationist who signrd the southenr Manifesto?
It doesnt matter that her husband called Fulbright his "mentor"?
It doesnt matter that her husband oresented Fulbright with the presidential medal of freedom?
It doesnt matter that she accepted money from countries where its legal to kill gays and treat women like shît?
It doesnt matter that she praised a eugenics supporter, Margaret Sanger, who faught to erradicate blacks from society?

reply

I see you have a tendency to focus on one point in someone's life and imply people can never change. I suppose that Robert Byrd and F. William Fulbright were racist segregationists at one time, but they changed. Ronald Reagan was a New Deal Democrat at one time, too. Does that make him a bad person in your opinion? The important thing isn't what people were, but what they became.

reply

So what does KKK holding rallies for Trump has to do with Trump himself?

reply

Well, the movie seemed to say that the KKK having rallies when they were Democrats was significant. Why isn't it significant now that they're Republicans?

It is. It's just that are so few KKK these days that they rarely make news.

In comparison, the Democrats' "Black Lives Matter" movement has way more people involved than today's KKK.

reply

Exactly. The Communist Party endorsed Bernie Sanders. And he honeymooned in Communist Russia, visited Communist Cuba, yet didn't utter a word about the human rights violations (i.e., mass murders) under both regimes. Trump never attended a KKK rally and has denounced them and all racists.
