THAT's the Finale? (SPOILERS)

I just looked for another episode and found that Ep 7 is the finale! Are you shittin' me?

Maybe they already knew they would do a Season Two, but still, what was resolved? Plus it was such a slow episode, for me it defused any cliff-hanging about them going back to The Old Man.

Did anyone else think "The Old Man" was either Jeff's or Joel Grey's character? I got a few hints in the last 2-3 episodes that it refers to the Cuckold (Hamzad?).

Nothing .... it is just like the cliff-hanger serials they used to hook people on in the 1930's in the movie theaters, western girl tied to train tracks or Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon ... what a cheap trick with some not so bad writing. Jeff Bridges like most other stars is just doing anything for money ... well, honestly for a long time. He is not one to look for really great roles.

In the script, the other characters make Hamzad out to be this bad ass military leader who could find you and kill you at any moment. Everybody’s anxious about getting on his wrong side. But in every scene in which Hamzad appears, his wife is telling him what to do or he consumed with self doubt or he’s sending her to go kill Russians while he waits at home. They even had him coming out of the kitchen and serving dinner to other Afghan men like he was Alice at Mel’s Diner. I honestly can’t recall a single scene where Hamzad behaved like the leader of fighting force. Hardly shocking Dan Chase takes off with his wife

Same on everything! I was convinced I had missed the final episode. Joel Grey's character was not nearly developed enough; apparently he IS the Old Man.

The actor who plays the young John Lithgow absolutely nailed his voice, which is remarkable because I never thought JL had a remarkable voice.

I thought Lithgow added his voice in post. If you watch the lips, it's slightly off.

For me, Lithgow and Grey carried the whole thing. I was waiting for them to turn around and bite Dan hard.

Second is the lady who played the daughter. Part of it's the writing and her look, "Freckles." But I also expected her to show what they only told, about the FBI instructor she "bit."

In a negative way, it's a writing lesson for me: What to avoid to satisfy your (in my case) reader.

Hamzad might have been the Old Man.

Lithgow's character referred to Joel Grey's character as "The Old Man." But not sure if that is meant as "THE" Old Man in the title.
