I was really confused by the scene where they went outside, and saw the petrified matter on the ground, and then declared that time stopped within the bubble but continued outside of it.

I figured, after seeing that, that the ending of the movie would be realizing that while they were inside the loop, the war had concluded outside their time bubble. But I am left wondering what that scene was even for.. they deduced that time was going outside the bubble, but repeating for them within; and then they further found that they had repeated the day tons of times. Yet if time had continued outside the bubble, what about Sonny calling the troops in that were outside of it?

The unit likely was called in the first iteration, leading the appearance of the unit in later iterations

Agree with OP - that scene was cool, but shouldn't have been included. Yes, as long as things INSIDE the loop area continue to happen the same way (radio call, ZMT's arriving, etc.) it will APPEAR as though they are interacting with things outside the loop area.

However, as the OP points out, time continues outside the loop area. So after thousands of loops, it should be YEARS later outside the loop area, and one might think TORUS would have sent additional mercs at some point when their original one never returned...

Definitely should have just went with "the ARQ is looping ALL time."

I was just thinking about that, then I remembered that the ZFT's are robots. And if they're robots, then they can physically access the computer. If they can access the computer, they can transmit the specs/data of the ARQ and how it works back to TORUS. If they can do that, TORUS can make copies. Once TORUS does that, they can just let that small loop continue knowing that the "Block" never gets the ARQ........Thus, winning the war.

Yeah, I think they goofed on the science/dialogue there.

I think what they were going for was that time looped everywhere, but only those inside the bubble were aware of it.

At least I hope so. If it's the alternative (years have allegedly passed outside), then that's hella inconsistent writing/follow-through.
