Wait, this isn't the pilot for a TV show?

Why not? Seems like a waste of a premise. The creators should consider putting in more hours and turn this into a show.

Every episode is a different version of the day? That would get old quick. Awful idea.

Brilliant counter example: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0801425/

That didn't get a second season.

Even worse, it got cancelled after showing 6 episodes. So, yeah, I suppose for a lot of Americans, that brilliant show did "get old quick". :/

Not for me, though. I guess I'm not arguing popularity, but quality. :)

reply

Well, we all know that great shows don't always get to go on...
Firefly, anyone?
I loved the hell out of Daybreak.

Interestingly(?), I apparently wasn't paying attention when I clicked this movie on Netflix, I was under the impression it WAS a series until nearly halfway through. Guess I wasn't the only one.

reply

Yep, same here... I thought it was a series and about halfway through it dawned on me that it was just a movie...

reply

You can watch all the episodes. It's great and resolves the story unlike this movie.

Nah they just took a big risk with a black lead (believe it or not, yeah people still think like that) and the show would have killed on cable but network viewers are just too stupid to follow an involved plot from one week to the next and the next and the next. Episodic shows are perfect for them but complex shows never last.

No just make it about the block's war against taurus and them learnin moreabout the arq and how it works while using it for various things, have some malfunctions that cause wacky sci fi *beep* and an eventual defeat of taurus.

Lack of imagination... as if that's the only way it could be done?

They kind of did that premise before. There was a tv show from 2006 called Day Break staring Taye Diggs.I never watched it but it was about a detective framed for murder who experiences the same day over and over again like Groundhog Day.

reply

I, on the other hand, did watch Day Break, and that series was awesome! So no, to the other guy - the theme wouldn't "get old quick"

reply

Day Break was a really great show. It only ran for like 13 episodes so I was very hesitant going in. I fully expected a forever dangling cliffhanger. It tied up perfectly though. They even more or less explained why the day was repeating. Such an underated show.

reply

as soon as you learned that it is a time loop, there won't be much more left to be a series

The show would evolve past the premise of the movie. It could be pretty awesome.

I blame the media-blamers

reply

Again, people assume that because they can't imagine something, it isn't possible...
