My objection (so far) . . .

. . . Is all the cliches:
1. Harass the teacher who advocates for sex education and have her fired
2. Bully the bi-sexual kid and make him even odder with makeup
3. Make the police idiots and ruffians
4. Make the football hero into a rapist and then:
5. Blame the rape victim, then harass and bully her and her family

This is what people are to believe about small town America? I know this is supposed to be a horror show but the writers could at least put a little original thought into character development!

I agree with all your points, except one...

I don't think the football hero QB is going to turn out to be the rapist.

reply

You're probably right about that, but if he's not guilty it's still cliche to accuse him. Gotta wonder what the friend's angle is to accuse him.

reply

What I'm dreading is that we might be subjected to flashbacks of the party in order to find out. The town is about to be under attack from an apocalyptic fog with monsters inside it...and we, the audience, are going to have to endure this social drama sub-plot of the teenage date-rape.

reply

Plot twist: Maybe the rapist is the bisexual friend with makeup.

reply

Yeah. I'm guessing this too. Something off about him. Aside from the obvious.

reply

Nah, I doubt it. Don't you know that the trend these days when it comes to presenting racial or sexual minority characters in films or tv shows is that they always have to be noble, good-hearted, and on the side of right?

And no, I'm not a conservative railing about this trend, I'm just a viewer who hates seeing clichéd and repetitive characters in stories all because of some kind of do-goodedness from overly sensitive liberal storytellers.

reply

Yeah, given the manic social justice culture we live in, all of this is not only cliche but pretty implausible

reply

Something else that bothers me is the muting of the fucks/fucking. If you're going to litter your script with fucks, have the balls for them to actually be audible. Maybe I'm just not watching on the ideal platform. Is it available uncensored anywhere?

reply

This was probably produced for a premium network but was passed on, hence the "fucks."
