Almost completely ripped from hollywood... except where it mattered....

A rather huge chunk ripped off Conjuring and Insidious with Paranormal activity filling in for the lesser part while the climax of Hindi film 1920 was appropriated at the end. Not an avid fan of Bwood, what I found refreshing was the cinematography and the screenplay - breaking the shackles of contemporary hindi cinema. How? Well, this time round, they even copied the cinematographic elements.

For once they did not try to spoon-feed the Indian audience by first explaining what tarots are before the gypsy read them. lol
Seemed realistic with dialogues in English without for once resorting too translate each syllable in Hindi as is usually the case, especially in those Akshay Kumar films. More so because actors did not hesitate using cuss words when necessary. after all we all cuss, dont we? Hwood showcases that as natural part of people's existence and venting frustration, so why not in Hindi films? About time.

On the downside, the CGI was awful, and so was the makeup. acting was below par with the exception of Emran Hashmi and the female lead who managed to stand her ground. Gaurav Arora was too woody while the blind guy never for once appeared blind. All he does, is look straight ahead. The roles of others in the cast were too menial to be evaluated. Foe anyone who has been fed a staple diet of Hollywood films, there are no 'real' scares, so dont let your spirits soar.

Overall, would expect this film to do fairly to less than average in terms of collections. The Hwood fans will find little to nothing that they haven't come across before, while some of the more ardent Bwood fans might find themselves in alien territory initially amidst the cinematography, coupled by an un-enthralling storyline.
