Shun

Just watched last ep, I thought it was brilliant, very emotional. I was also very impressed with the progression of shuns character, a great performance in the last two eps from the actor, I liked how his character started as a farce Manuel faulty towers type character but ended full of depth. When tells the story of his sister, and meets his family, very emotional, bravo.

Agreed. I liked the contrast between Maurice and Shun, in that while Shun was in denial about losing his family Maurice was in denial about still having to deal with his, and the resolution (of sorts) at the end.

I didn't realise until this evening the entire show was his baby, as sole creator/writer/director.

Got to say, though, that having watched it all - and found some of it a bit of a struggle (not because of the 'issues', rather some of the writing was just a bit off, a little silly) - I'm completely at a loss as to what the George/Abigail sideshow contributed to the whole. You could strip their parts out, reduce the length of the thing and it would be a lot tighter and pack a heftier punch, in my opinion.

Good point about them two characters, didn't offer much at all, and also agree some parts a little to silly, the inventions for eg

The inventions typify precisely what I'm talking about with regards the silliness. When I saw the car with wings I just groaned, which is unfortunate because while its flaws were fairly egregious for me - on the whole - this show was nothing short of sublime. I really felt like I'd been a part of something by the time it had finished.

Did you ever see Richard Ayoade's Submarine which dealt with similar subject matter? Parts of this series were reminiscent of that in tone, the parts were most affecting.
