Gun used in shooting blind

What kind of gun did they use in this myth. The top slide stayed stable, I need this gun just don't know what kind it is ? Anyone know ?

I think a lot of .22lr guns look like that. the one in the video is a 1911 .22lr gun (google 1911 .22 top rail or similar). Also Ruger .22lr guns and all similar looking designs are like that, and revolvers.

.22 might me a smaller round not capable of sliding a heavy slide made for .45ACP, at least it might not be effective or smart to do so. I know there are examples of 1911 .22 conversions, but it reasonable to believe that smaller cartridge, less powder, less slide makes sense.

This answer was totally not helpful.
Yes it is a .22 1911, but who made it?

reply

Are you sure you Google-ed it?

because google images with 1911 .22 top rail brings me at least 3-4 different brands in the first two rows of images.

us palm tacticle 22
tactical solutions 22
kimber 22
and a gun magazine article with an exposed slide 1911 22 without the top rail.

You said what kind. Instead of being an critical of the answer to your question, you might be more specific next time. Jackass

Really?? Jackass? you must be like 6?? I can't help it if you can't read yet, go back to grade school!

I read just well. You said what "kind" of gun. You might want to look on a gun box and see if it says "Kind:" and then lists manufacturer. It was a very general term that can be taken a number of different ways and since you never said you knew the model type, then you are a jackass for assuming anyone was going to offer up more than the model.

In the show the only thing they said was that it was a .22. What I want to know is why the gun "jammed" twice? He pulled the trigger and nothing happened twice. So it misfired. They later said it did this because of his grip? Really? I know if you limp wrist some pistols, like a Glock, it might not completely cycle the slide. But that isn't what happened here. I want to really know what happened with these misfires. And I wouldn't buy any pistol that misfires like this one did.

I came here trying to identify the pistol as well. The slide appeared devoid of markings on either side, though they only show the left side for a split second.

Originally, I thought it was a US Palm .22 conversion for the 1911. They have a similar slide/fixed barrel set up, but the US Palms all appear to have extended threaded barrels and the show gun did not. The Mythbusters pistol also had guide grooves cut into the barrel for the slide, and US Palm doesn't appear to have them, either.

I also wonder about Jason's problem with the gun. I watched the segment a few times and I don't think the issue was his hold either. After his 1st shot, the empty case clearly ejects, but when the slide returns home, the hammer isn't cocked. After the reload, he shoots again, but this time, there's not even an ejected case and the hammer is still down. For his final shot, they only show the target, but when the handler takes the gun, the hammer is down, again.

Jason said he had firearms experience and they showed him doing fine in practice. Since the hammer failed to cock 3 times, I would tend to think the issue was with the gun. (Of course, we don't know how any of the scenes were edited, so who knows?)
