What happened to S02E01's cliff-hanger?

S02E01 ends with the (not in the books) Dr Who-like cliff-hanger of Will being loomed over by a spectre (presumably). S02E02, however, follows the books and begins with no sign of the spectre or any jeopardy at all for Will before he & Lyra leave for our-world/Oxford. This struck me as a truly bizarre level of continuity failure. Am I missing anything? What did everyone else make of this?

reply

Good catch! I completely forgot about the spectre. Maybe it decided that Will was too young and couldn't consume his soul?

reply

That's right because Will is a pre-pubescent little boy and so off limits to the hungry ghosts until he grows up...

reply

Wish the spectre consumed his "soul" right then and there, so we could be done with this ugly motherfucker.

reply

Agreed. I much prefer the white Will shown in illustrations when the book was released, back in the day.

reply

Sock puppets have so much to put up with...

reply

LOL, that guy just assumed I said he was ugly because he isn't white. Red flags! Red flags! Ring the alarm!
