When Lyra finds Billy in the book, I seem to remember him clutching something, a rag or a stuffed animal or something, that he was using in place of his daemon. It was absolutely heartbreaking and remember tearing up when I read that part. But in this series I did not see Billy clutching anything. Did I miss it? I will have to go back and watch this scene again in THE GOLDEN COMPASS to see if Billy was clutching his daemon stand-in.

It was a dead fish, from what I remember. The character wasn’t Billy Costa but another young boy - a heartbreaking scene in the book. It was well done in the show, but the scene in the novel was much more powerful.
